The Lord the Defense of His People A Song of Ascents. Of David. “If it had not been the Lord who was on our Ps. 25:15 side,” Ps. 118:6; (Rom. 8:31) Let Israel now say—
“If it had not been the Lord who was on our side, When men rose up against us,
Then they would have Ps. 129:1 swallowed us alive, When their wrath was kindled against us;
Then the waters would have overwhelmed us, The stream would have gone over our soul;
Then the swollen waters Would have gone over our soul.”
Blessed be the Lord , Who has not given us as prey to their teeth.
Num. 16:30; Ps. 56:1, 2; 57:3; Prov. 1:12 Our soul has escaped Ps. 91:3 as a bird from the snare of the fowlers; The snare is broken, and we have escaped.
Prov. 6:5; Hos. 9:8 Our help is in the name of the Lord , (Ps. 121:2) Who made heaven and earth.
