1 “Now these are the names of the tribes: from the northern extremity, 48:1Lit at the hand of beside the way of Hethlon to 48:1Or the entrance of Hamath Lebo-hamath,as far asHazar-enanatthe border of Damascus, toward the north 48:1Lit at the hand of beside Hamath, 48:1Lit and there shall be to it an east and west side running from east to west, Dan, oneportion.
2 And beside the border of Dan, from the east side to the west side, Asher, oneportion.
3 And beside the border of Asher, from the east side to the west side, Naphtali, oneportion.
4 And beside the border of Naphtali, from the east side to the west side, Manasseh, oneportion.
5 And beside the border of Manasseh, from the east side to the west side, Ephraim, oneportion.
6 And beside the border of Ephraim, from the east side to the west side, Reuben, oneportion.
7 And beside the border of Reuben, from the east side to the west side, Judah, oneportion.
8 “And beside the border of Judah, from the east side to the west side, shall be the contribution which you shall contribute,25,000 48:8Or possibly reeds, so in ch cubitsin width, and in length like one of the portions, from the east side to the west side; and the sanctuary shall be in the middle of it.
9 The contribution that you shall contribute to Yahwehshall be 48:9Approx.7.1mi. long and2.8mi. wide or11.25km and4.5km25,000cubitsin length and10,000in width.
10 And the holy contribution shall be for these,namelyfor the priests, toward the north25,000cubits in length, toward the west10,000in width, toward the east10,000in width, and toward the south25,000in length; and the sanctuary of Yahweh shall be in its midst.
11 It shall befor the priests who are sanctified of the sons of Zadok, who have kept the responsibilitygiven byMe, who did not go astray when the sons of Israel went astray as the Levites went astray.
12 And it shall be a contribution to them from the contribution of the land, a Holy of Holies, by the border of the Levites.
13 Now alongside the border of the priests, the Levitesshall have25,000cubitsin length and10,000in width. The whole lengthshall be25,000cubitsand the width10,000.
14 Moreover, they shall not sell or exchange any of it, or let this 48:14Lit first, first fruits choiceportionof land pass overto another; for it is holy to Yahweh.
15 “And the remainder, 48:15Approx.1.4mi. or2.25km5,000cubitsin width and25,000 48:15Lit in front in length, shall be for common use for the city, forplaces ofhabitation, and for 48:15Or pasture land open spaces; and the city shall be in its midst.
16 And theseshall beits measurements: the north side 48:16Approx.1.3mi. or 2 km4,500cubits, the south side4,500cubits, the east side4,500cubits, and the west side4,500cubits.
17 And the city shall have 48:17Or pasture land open spaces: on the north 48:17Approx. 375 ft. or112.5m 250cubits, on the south 250cubits, on the east 250cubits, and on the west 250cubits.
18 And the remainder of the length alongside the holy contribution shall be10,000cubitstoward the east and10,000toward the west; and it shall be 48:18Or exactly as alongside the holy contribution. And its produce shall be food for the workers of the city.
19 The workers of the city, out of all the tribes of Israel, shall cultivate it.
20 The whole contributionshall be25,000by25,000cubits; you shall contribute the holy contribution, a 48:20Lit fourth square, with the city’s possessionof land.
21 “And the remaindershall befor the prince, on the one side and on the other of the holy contribution and of the city’s possessionof land; in front of the25,000cubitsof the contribution toward the east border and westward in front of the25,000toward the west border, alongside the portions,it shall befor the prince. And the holy contribution and the sanctuary of the house shall be in the middle of it.
22 And apart from the Levites’ possession and the city’s possession,whichare in the middle of that which belongs to the prince,everythingbetween the border of Judah and the border of Benjamin shall be for the prince.
23 “Now as for the rest of the tribes: from the east side to the west side, Benjamin, oneportion.
24 And beside the border of Benjamin, from the east side to the west side, Simeon, oneportion.
25 And beside the border of Simeon, from the east side to the west side, Issachar, oneportion.
26 And beside the border of Issachar, from the east side to the west side, Zebulun, oneportion.
27 And beside the border of Zebulun, from the east side to the west side, Gad, oneportion.
28 And beside the border of Gad, at the south side toward the south, the border shall be from Tamar to the waters of Meribath-kadesh, to the brookof Egypt, to the Great Sea.
29 This is the land which you shall divide by lot to the tribes of Israel for an inheritance, and these are theirseveralportions,” declares Lord Yahweh.Yahweh Is There
30 “And these are the exits of the city: on the north side, 4,500cubitsby measurement.
31 “And the gates of the cityshall be 48:31Lit according to the names of named for the tribes of Israel, three gates toward the north: the gate of Reuben, one; the gate of Judah, one; the gate of Levi, one.
32 And on the east side,4,500cubits, 48:32Lit and shall be three gates: the gate of Joseph, one; the gate of Benjamin, one; the gate of Dan, one.
33 And on the south side,4,500cubitsby measurement, 48:33Lit and shall be three gates: the gate of Simeon, one; the gate of Issachar, one; the gate of Zebulun, one.
34 Onthe west side,4,500cubits, shall bethree gates: the gate of Gad, one; the gate of Asher, one; the gate of Naphtali, one.
35 The city shall be 48:35Approx.5.1mi. or8.1km18,000cubitsround about; and the name of the city fromthatdayshall be, ‘ 48:35Heb Yahweh-shammah Yahweh is there.’ ”
