1 Psalm 2 The Reign of Yahweh’s Anointed Why do the 2:1 Or Gentiles nations rageAnd the peoples meditate on a vain thing?
2 The kings of the earth take their standAnd the rulers take counsel togetherAgainst Yahweh and against His 2:2Or Messiah Anointed,saying,
3 “Let us tear their fetters apartAnd cast away their cords from us!”
4 ¶He who 2:4 Or is enthroned sits in the heavens laughs,The Lord mocks them.
5 Then He speaks to them in His angerAnd terrifies them in His fury,saying,
6 “But as for Me, I have 2:6Or consecrated installed My KingUpon Zion, My holy mountain.”
7 ¶“I will surely tell of the 2:7Or decree: Yahweh said to Me decree of Yahweh:He said to Me, ‘You are My Son,Today I have begotten You.
8 ‘Ask of Me, and I will surely give the 2:8 Or Gentiles nations as Your inheritance,And the ends of the earth as Your possession.
9 ‘You shall 2:9Or rule break them with a 2:9Or scepter, staff rod of iron,You shall shatter them like a potter’s vessel.’ ”
10 ¶So now, O kings, show insight;Take warning, O 2:10Or leaders judges of the earth.
11 Serve Yahweh with fearAnd rejoice with trembling.
12 2:12 Some ancient versions Do homage purely, Lay hold of instruction Kiss the Son, lest He become angry, and you perishinthe way,For His 2:12 Or anger, cf.2:5 wrath may 2:12 Or quickly, easily soon be kindled.How blessed are all who take refuge in Him!
