1 Psalm 17 In the Shadow of Your Wings A Prayer of David.Hear a righteous cause, O Yahweh, give heed to my cry of lamentation;Give ear to my prayer, which is not from deceitful lips.
2 May my 17:2Vindication judgment come from Your presence;May Your eyes behold what is upright.
3 You have tested my heart;You have visitedmeby night;You have tried me and You find 17:3Or no evil device in me; My mouth nothing;I have purposed that my mouth will not 17:3Lit trespass transgress.
4 As for the deeds of men, by the word of Your lipsI have kept from the paths of the violent.

6 ¶I have called upon You, for You will answer me, O God;Incline Your ear to me, hear my speech.
7 Marvelously show Your lovingkindnesses,O Savior of those who take refuge 17:7Or from those who rise up...at Your right hand at Your right handFrom those who rise upagainst them.
8 Keep me as 17:8Lit the pupil, the daughter of the eye the apple of the eye;Hide me in the shadow of Your wings
9 From the wicked who devastate me,My deadly enemies who surround me.

11 They have now surrounded us in our steps;They set their eyes to castusdown to the ground.
12 He is like a lion that is eager to tear,And as a young lion lurking in hiding places.
13 ¶Arise, O Yahweh, confront him, bring him low;Protect my soul from the wicked with Your sword,
14 From men with Your hand, O Yahweh,From men 17:14Or whose portion in life is of the world of the world, whose portion is inthislife,And whose belly You fill with Your treasure;They are satisfied with children,And leave their excess to their infants.
15 As for me, I shall behold Your face in righteousness;I will be satisfied 17:15Or with beholding with Your likeness when I awake.
