1 Psalm 137 We Wept When We Remembered Zion By the rivers of Babylon,There we sat and also wept,When we remembered Zion.
2 Upon the 137:2Or poplars willows in the midst of itWe hung our lyres.
3 For there our captors asked us about the words of a song,And our tormentorsaskedjoyfully,saying,“Sing for us one of the songs of Zion.”
4 ¶How can we sing a song of YahwehIn a foreign land?
5 If I forget you, O Jerusalem,May my right hand 137:5Become lame forgether skill.
6 May my tongue cling to the roof of my mouthIf I do not remember you,If I do not 137:6Lit cause to ascend exalt JerusalemAbove my chief joy.
7 ¶Remember, O Yahweh, against the sons of EdomThe day of Jerusalem,Who said, “Tear it down! Tear it downTo its very foundation.”
8 O daughter of Babylon, you devastated one,How blessed will be the one who repays youWith 137:8Lit your the recompense with which you have recompensed us.
9 How blessed will be the one who seizes and dashes your infantsAgainst the cliff.
